I am a marine ecologist by training. I am interested in observing, understanding, and predicting changes in the ocean and the Earth System. My current research involves the use of remote sensing and in situ observations, numerical ocean physical-biogeochemical models, and state-of-the-art data assimilation techniques to improve the predictive skills of ocean biogeochemical and carbon cycles.

I received my Ph.D. in Ocean Sciences from the University of Southern California in 2017, M.S. in Marine Biology from Virginia Institute of Marine Science, the College of William & Mary in 2011, and B.S. in Biological Sciences from the Ocean University of China in 2008. I completed my postdoctoral training at Princeton University and NOAA GFDL before accepting a research position at NOAA NCEP. I re-joined NOAA GFDL in 2023. I am interested in working with motivated students and postdocs to address a range of questions relevant to ocean and global change.

When I have time, I enjoy taking my kids to new places on this blue planet. I wish I could preserve its beauty through my work.
